چکیده
Abstract Full conversion from Ohmic to runaway electron (RE) driven current was observed in the TCV tokamak following massive injection of neon through a disruption mitigation valve into low-density limited circular plasma. Following partial disruption, stable 200 kA RE beam is maintained for more than one second. Controlled ramp-down with adjustable decay rate demonstrated. Control vertical position achieved down 20 kA. formation elongated plasma configurations up κ=1.5. A reproducible scenario generation without loss circulating particular interest modelling applications.

Electron Cyclotron Current Drive and Suprathermal Electron Dynamics in the TCV Tokamak
Electron cyclotron current drive (ECCD) is an important prospective tool for tailoring the current profile in next-step devices. To fill the remaining gaps between ECCD theory and experiment, especially in the efficiency and localisation of current drive, a better understanding of the physics of suprathermal electrons appears necessary. On TCV, the fast electron population is diagnosed by a mul...
متن کاملElectron Bernstein Wave Heating and Emission in the TCV Tokamak
Electron cyclotron heating of high density plasmas is limited due to so-called wave cut-offs. The double mode conversion scheme from O-mode to X-mode and finally to Bernstein mode O-X-B offers the possibility to overcome this limit [1]-[4]. At a particular launching angle, an O-mode wave converts to X-mode at the plasma cut-off. The power transmission function T from Oto X-mode was derived in [...

متن کاملCriteria for Runaway Electron Generation in Tokamak Disruptions
Experimental observations show that there is a magnetic field threshold for runaway electron generation in tokamak disruptions. A possible explanation for these observations is that the runaway beam excites whistler waves that scatter the electrons in velocity space and prevents the beam from growing. The growth rates of the most unstable whistler waves are inversely proportional to the magneti...
